- Cuckoo calling and seen briefly in Armaside Wood on Little Asby Scar, near Appleby. Several spells of calling, then went off south towards Crosby Garrett calling as it went.

8.00pm A few Little Egrets, quite a few Snipe put up by Marsh Harrier then Could not believe a Cattle Egret flew close towards the hide. Yellow bill and stumpy looking. Seen many before but a first for me in Cumbria. Got another view in flight again 30 mins later. Don’t know if it was the same bird or a second?

Lone night heron on the west banks of Ponsonby Tarn, in fallen trees. Remained till night of the 12.6.23 and seen and photographed by three people. Checked back early on 13.6.23 but no sign was found then or since
