  • Curlew Sandpiper

    Sighting date: 2023-09-16. Submitted by: Julian Smith. Location: Esk estuary – Newbiggin viaduct.  1 (juv) with two Dunlin downstream of the viaduct, late morning. Flew off towards Ravenglass and didn’t return

  • Marsh Harrier

    Sighting date: 2023-09-15. Submitted by: Richard Perry. Location: Bassenthwaite Lake – southern end.  Male Marsh Harrier over the Marsh at 17:00. The bird showed well as it approached the waters edge. Last seen flying low among the trees over the marsh to the south.

    Sighting date: 2023-09-14. Submitted by: MICHAEL HOLT. Location: Mawbray.  About 400 Oystercatchers this afternoon, 160+ Curlew, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 Sanderling, 40 Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin, and flight southwards from Great White Egret. 2 Wheatear, 40+ Goldfinches, Stonechat, 10+ Linnets
