• Pied Flycatcher – early arrival

    Sighting date: 2024-04-11. Submitted by: Peter Ullrich. Location: Holme Wood, Loweswater .  2 male Pied Flycatcher back on territory NW end of Holme Wood, Loweswater – in song and fly catching – earliest I’ve ever seen them

  • Red Kite

  • Whooper Swans

    Sighting date: 2024-04-10. Submitted by: Harry Coghill. Location: Borrans Park.  3 whooper swans came from the east turning north before re-orientating and heading south down Windermere. Also c175 pink footed geese NW, drake tufted duck (uncommon here), 5 house Martin, 2 swallow and 4 red breasted mergansers. My first patch morning above 50 species, full list here…

  • Grasshopper Warbler

    Sighting date: 2024-04-08. Submitted by: Steven Swift. Location: Foulshaw Moss.  Heard a grasshopper warbler on the path east of the car park near the bench. Recorded sound on Merlín app. Reported it to the warden. He confirmed my sound recording and with real song. No sighting of bird though.

  • Pink Footed Geese
