A classic walk around the point – views across the Solway and into Moricambe Bay. Last chance to see our wintering geese before their departure and a good chance for early spring arrivals. Phil Evans as guide, timed for a high tide at about 13.20 pm.

The Solway from the other side! We’re heading out on the Scottish shore. Newbie offers a good vantage point with a rising tide. A short walk takes in the mouth of the River Annan with good wader and sea watching potential! Although this meeting is on the same day as the Dawn Chorus meet, it is later in the day. Fuelled by a Dawn Chorus bacon buttie, it is a relatively short drive from Longtown to Newbie so keen members can attend both meets.

Andy Lester hosts another early morning dawn chorus meet to enjoy the spring bird song around a variety of habitats with refreshments to compensate for the early start (donation appreciated). The more the merrier at this gathering.

Hay Bridge is a gem of a reserve which we have the opportunity to visit with the site manager Jim Shaw. Woodland and wetland species in the Rusland Valley.
